Java and Java and sleepless nights

alexAugust 12, 2022October 16, 2022

“I must code.” It was 4am. I was working on a java function, probably trying to animate a spider to spin its web. It was ugly, but oh so beautiful. A righteous code. But I couldn’t get it to work. I was drinking more and more coffee, pounding the keyboard, and muttering obscene words to a big bulky screen. It was 1995 before I even knew that I would soon create a web agency. And java was the future*.

The damn thing would not work. I kept coding. I must code. At around 6:30am I fell asleep in my chair, hand cradling the cup of coffee, and despair at having lost hours and hours of sleep to a silly spider.

The next day, late morning, waking up in my chair, I looked at the code for five minutes. Punched in a semi-colon. And it worked.

Take a break, it will always work tomorrow.

* (I guess Java still is ‘the future’ forever ?)
